“We lose ourselves in books. We find ourselves there too.”— Anonymous.
I always loved books. They were mysterious. They hid secret worlds and adventures. They housed hero’s and villains. They kept princess locked up, and magic swords in deep caves. I was fascinated. I was enthralled. I wanted to be a part of it, and for a long time, I was. I used to be the kid with the book underneath an arm. The one that would pretend to go to bed early just to squeeze in a few hours of unchaperoned reading.
But, books are magical things and magic is a costly thing.
“All magic comes with a price. A price that is never revealed until after the damage has been done.”― Morgan Rhodes, Frozen Tides
So my love for reading faded and diminished quite a lot during most of my 20’s. Blame it on college, just life in general or even new forms of media occupying most of my time like Netflix and video-games. However, I knew that something was missing, and after a long draught (almost 10 freaking years) I found my reading rhythm again.
“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.”― Anna Quindlen, How Reading Changed My Life
That was about a year ago and I can’t see myself turning back. I’m reading about 20 books per month (yay!) and from that love, I decided to spread out to social media and share my thoughts, reviews, and hopefully inspire people to enjoy reading a bit more or maybe even break their long reading slumps.
It’s been a crazy journey (believe me). Today I’m here to bring this blog into the world and to be one more website in this huge and inspiring book community. Readers are the best people, seriously.
So, here’s a toast to finding your passion again, to discovering the sword and slaying the dragon, to magical worlds, and for conquering (albeit lazily) one book at a time.
Let the reading commence.
