The Guy on the Right by Kate Stewart (Book Review)

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (4.5 stars)

This is a friends-to-lovers, underdog story that is written with so much soul.

I absolutely fell in love with Theo and Laney. Both characters have so much personality that getting to be inside their heads was delightful. Laney was quirky and fun and complicated. She’s a girl that’s not afraid to go after what she wants, she just… doesn’t know what she wants.

Theo is haunted by the shadow of his good looking all-star football player roommate. He’s a guy with a heart of gold, but he is so tired of being constantly outshined.

They meet as friends and embark on a beautiful slow-burn romance with some twists and turns along the way. Ultimately they are just two young people finding their path and trying to be comfortable with who they are.

I also loved the interchanging POV’s, and how we spent more time with Theo. I adore when we’re able to see new adult from the guy’s perspective and it was refreshing and hilarious at times.

Theo is the hero we all want to root for.

I’m looking forward to Kate Stewart’s follow up to this series.
