Making the Call by Amanda Shelley (Book Review)

⭐⭐⭐ (3 Stars)

Dani and Luke are spending some time on the tiny Anderson Island. Luke just got the promotion of his life, he’s now the youngest head coach on the league. Dani is a romance novelist writing under the own name Charlotte Ann, and she needs all the time and focus to keep up with her deadlines.

On a morning that Luke is jogging through the island he spots a woman falling from her bike. After he helps her, the meet cute leads to a relationship between both.

Luke and Dani have great chemistry, but nothing else really happens after that. The plot is that they are both really busy and sort of famous, so it shows the struggles they must face to have a public relationship. That’s it… I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did.

Because Dani is an author, I did think this was a bit meta. Giving some nice shout-outs to the romance community, so that was fun.

If you want a sweet book about falling in love with zero drama, this could be the book for you. It’s definitely cute, but not a lot o plot/conflict.
